Pleasant Green Cemetery

If you love creepy places, you'll love this one! The Pleasant Green Cemetery isn't the oldest Cemetery in Utah, but in my opinion it is one of the creepiest. It’s located in Magna and is easy to miss (unless you know it’s there) The road to access it is just off Copper Bend Road, you cross some train tracks and follow the road up the hill.

(Access Road to the Cemetary)

The cemetery’s first burial was in 1872 but it was not an official cemetery until 1883. It's not well maintained despite the fact that there is still the occasional burial there. It is also vandalized quite often. It is not uncommon to see the deceased's headstone kicked over or graffiti on it. While I was out there I found several tags with upside down crosses, the phrase “Helter Skelter” written on monuments, and I also have seen several dead cats. There must be some sick people out in Magna!

You can easily tell the graves with still living relatives that maintain them from the ones that are forgotten and beginning to fade. Some of the grave stones are so worn they do little more than mark the spot were someone is buried.

I have been told that at certain times of the year the entire cemetery will glow green when looked at from a hilltop. I have been told that this is for one of two reasons:

First that the forgotten souls of those buried there are upset at the disrespect and vandalism’s committed or that there are minerals in the soil that cause a green hue to be seen during certain conditions. It is near Kennecott Copper mine after all.

Here are some photos of the cemetery. There is not a Google street view available as the road to it is not clearly marked as a city street. However, I have included a Satellite view
